The first ever tracks I made were by no means revolutionary. I started by learning the basics of dance music production and spending hours on end trying to perfect and push the crude equipment to its keeling point. The tunes I produced at school were just a foundation for learning and experimenting. If I remember correctly it was an Atari running a peice of software named Notation. They had it connected to a very dodgy MIDI controller and a Yamaha sound module.
As time passed by and shortly after leaving school I worked my way through numerous soundcards, trying to find something that would give me a lot more than 16 Channels and a General MIDI soundset. The Yamaha SW1000XG soundcard came to my rescue and let me finally impose my own unique sound and style. It gave me the ability to use an existing PC and tweak the onboard sounds in every way. I still use it today as it has some fantastic percussive instruments and effects. >>
